Bedside table upcycle
This week I’ve gone back to a project from about a year ago where I upcycled a bedside table. We bought a pair of these from a charity shop many years ago and I’ve always thought they were a little dark for our bedroom.
I started by sanding back the dark pine surface, then painted with 2 coats of white chalk paint. I deliberately left the feet bare as I like to know what colour furniture once was.
I wanted to make this unique and tie it in with our oriental decor in this room. So, after it had dried, I used brown paint that I made from mixing children’s paint to add branches. I then used the other end of the paintbrush to add dots in pink chalk paint I had from another project.
After it had all dried, I coated with beeswax using a beeswax bar. And voila, a lighter bedside table that matches our decor and has unique hand painted designs on the handles.
